After investigating the Wet’suwet’en event in 2021, it was determined by Wolves of the West, that the RCMP that arrived there were coming from the Surrey detachment. Not nationally funded RCMP, but local Surrey RCMP, paid for by Surrey. Now there seems to be a little bit of discussion about how much money is being spent there and if the Surrey residents want to keep paying for it. It would seem there is a short fall in funding that looks very much like the amount of money being spent on indigenous harassment outside the city limits.
